Smudge

Smudging refers to the practice of purifying or dedicating a space by consciously directing into it the smoke and fragrance from a bound bundle of dried herbs with cleansing properties. Most smudge sold in this country is highly dessicated and imported from North America (where there is a long-standing Native American tradition of smudging using mostly white sage and sweetgrass, indigenous herbs to that area). We dislike unnecessary air-miles, prefer fresher smudge and believe it is perverse to ignore the native and long-used cleansing herbs of this country. We bind and dry our own smudge from sage (salvia officinalis) and lavender (lavandula officinalis) grown on our own land on organic principles.
