Ear candles have been used in therapy treatments in Asia and North America for hundreds of years. However if your ear drums are perforated, have grommets or auricular drains, had ear surgery recently, have auricular cysts, have acute mastoiditis, ostoclerosis, ostopongiosis, an ear tumour or any other condition of the ear that requires medical treatment then you should never use ear candles without first consulting your doctor.

Ear candles are used in alternative therapy. To use the candles you light one end and the other end is placed within the ear. The person who is using the ear candles must lie on their side with the affected ear uppermost, proponents of ear candles will tell you that they help to create negative pressure which in turn draws out wax and debris from the ear.
